Girls track ready to sprint to success

The girls track team is young, with only two seniors out of about 55-60 girls.
‘There are many returning juniors and sophomores. They are the backbone of the team,? said Head Coach Sharon Kline.
The team has a decent number of girls. About 55-60 girls make up the team.
‘We have really good speed on the team,? said Kline.
Last season, sophomore Alexandria Johnson broke sprinting records. She quite possibly could break her own this year.
Sophomores Melissa Stec and Danielle Staycoff are also good speed runners.
Junior Chiara Allen is a possible state-qualifying hurdler.
Strong in the long jump is junior Lisa Galasso.
Sophomores Lisa Bandico, Amy Wells and Karen Wells are good distance runners.
The captain of field events is junior Katie Osentoski.
‘Katie is a good leader,? said Kline.
Galasso is the sprint and jump captain. Senior Lisa Lieblein is the distance captain.
The girls track team, like every other, has rivals they enjoy going against.
‘We always like to go against Clarkston,? Kline said.
The team has a few goals for the season.
‘We always try to improve on personal bests and improve from last year. The team works hard during pre-season,? she said.
The girls know the meaning of teamwork.
‘They are cooperative, willing to learn, coachable, determined, hardworking and willing to listen,? said Kline.
