A few moments after Brandon Pokley’s fourth 3-point traveled past the rim and through the netting a yellow poster board shot up from the student section.
Pokley’s classmate in Clarkston camo-wear was keeping tally of how many 3-pointers the senior made during the game against West Bloomfield.
One more mark was added to the poster board after he made his fifth and final field goal of the night.
While the fans were keeping tally, the players were busy on the court improving their undefeated record to 10-0.
The Wolves beat the Lakers, 57-39.
‘I think all of us came out strong,? said Pokley. ‘We expected a good game because West Bloomfield always has a good team. So we just came out strong like we would any other game and it paid off for us.?
The Wolves got a quick lead at the beginning of the game from baskets made by Matt Kamieniecki and Pokley.
As the second half of the game began the boys were ahead, 32-18, giving Fife an opportunity to use different lineups.
‘Our team did a great job when Pokley wasn’t in the game because we rely on him so much for shooting and Luke (Prudhomme) came in and did a good job getting baskets. We were able to rest Kami a lot tonight and Tommy (Staton) had to carry the burden. He did quite well getting the ball to the offense.?
Pokley led with 21 points. Staton added 13 and Kamieniecki had 13.
The win on Friday kept the boys ranked number one in Class A.
‘It was a pretty good win. I don’t think we played better than that team. We just got them and stayed with them and didn’t give them a lot of easy hooks,? said Fife.
The boys played Flint Northern on Jan. 28 and won, 68-55.
Pokley led the team with 31 points, Kamieniecki added 13 and Staton had 12 for the night.
The Wolves played rivals Pontiac Northern on Tuesday night.
‘We are just going to treat it just like any other game,? said Pokley, preparing for the game. ‘We can’t get down but we can’t get cocky or over confident.?
‘We have had so many great memories and games at the Northern gym and here,? said Fife.
‘I am looking forward to seeing Coach (Robert) Rogers again because he had a stroke. We have always had a great relationship between the two schools. It will be a great game. I don’t know what their record is, but I could care less because it will be a competitive game. I am looking forward to it.?
The boys will be back home on Friday night when they host North Farmington.
They will follow it up with another home game against Troy on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
JV begins at 5:30 p.m., varsity follows.
