Hot cocoa and winning the Super Bowl IV at Brandon High School stadium warmed the hearts of Clarkston players and their fans.
The Freshman White team started the day by beating the Pontiac Panthers in overtime, 18-12.
‘We won the game like we wanted to,? said Coach Joel Wells. ‘They are great kids and we went undefeated for the season.?
Going into the second quarter of the game, the Chiefs were behind by 12 points, but it was just a number for the boys.
Ross Bailey scored two touchdowns in the last six minutes of the half and the score remained tied as the regulation period ended.
Panthers chose to go first for the overtime period and were pushed farther away from the end zone by the Chiefs? defense during each of their tries.
The Chiefs went next and Christopher Cartier didn’t waste anytime heading into the endzone.
‘I think it was a great game,? said Bailey. ‘I think Pontiac played as hard as they could.?
Bailey added his own thoughts about going undefeated for the whole season, 11-0.
‘It was great. Coach Wells is a good coach and I enjoyed being on the team.?
The JV White team didn’t waste anytime scoring in their game against the JV Pontiac Panthers.
Seven minutes in, Ryan Kostich scored the first touchdown.
By the end of the game, the boys scored three more touchdowns and held the Panthers down to one, 28-6.
‘It’s unbelievable,? said Head Coach Paul Chewins. ‘The boys are fantastic. Pontiac is a tough team. We were worried about them all year. I was just happy the boys were up to the task and were able to keep them from scoring. We teach them a lot about defense.?
JV White was also undefeated for the season, 11-0.
Finishing the day was the Varsity Chief team, led by Head Coach Steve Ellsworth.
Within the first four minutes, Waterford Corsairs were in the lead after scoring their first touchdown.
Both teams were tied at the end of the game with a score of 12.
The Corsairs went first during the overtime period and scored a touchdown.
The Chiefs went next and tied the score with a touchdown, but made the PAT and won the game, 19-18.
Varsity ended the season, 9-2.
