Brandon Twp.- By a 7-0 vote Wednesday night, the school board named Lorrie McMahon as the new Brandon superintendent.
McMahon, 59, has served as the Brandon curriculum director for the past year and had been serving as interim superintendent since July, when Tom Miller left the district to take a position as a principal in Arizona.
Greg Allar, school board president, contacted McMahon by phone after the vote, and said she accepted the position.
‘We’re pleased to have her on board, and will now begin the contract negotiations,? said Allar. ‘Right now, we’ll consider a three-year contract with a starting salary of $125,000 to $130,000 per year.?
McMahon was selected over William Eis, superintendent of Potterville Public Schools. Eis, 56, was hired in January 2006 as the superintendent of Potterville Schools, a district which has just under 1,000 students and is located a few miles southwest of Lansing.
‘It’s a seamless transition,? said Beth Nuccio, who has served on the school board for 13 years. ‘Right now, we’re in a situation where we don’t have a lot of money. She’s going to have to make some tough decisons in the very near future.?
