For the sixth year in a roll, the Junior Pistons Basketball Training Camp returned to Clarkston to show players a few tricks of the trade.
Steve Moreland, Detroit Pistons director of camps and clinics, and his camp coaching staff taught elementary-school players passing, shooting, rebounding, ball handling, and defense skills.
Alex Cousins and Matthew Kanan took home a trophy for being the Detroit Piston free-throw champions.
‘Coach Steve? gave each camper a Pyramid of Success poster, a Chauncey Billups card, and a Pistons T-shirt.
Moreland explained to the campers each building block in the pyramid.
Each Pistons player follows the 10 building blocks every day, he told them.
‘The first step is attitude. Every day wake up with a great attitude and a smile that tells everyone you are open to them,? he said.
He signed each camper’s T-shirt and let each camper try on his championship ring.
Coming up is the Pistons Youth Training Camp at The Palace of Auburn Hills, Aug. 18-21.
The camp will run 8 a.m.-12 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 1-5, and 1-5 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 6-11.
