When you drop your dog or cat off at a kennel, don’t you want to make sure they’re in good hands?
The new Angelic Tails Kennel, located at 1561 E. Drahner Rd. in Oxford, does and is dedicated to giving your special pet a home away from home.
Owned and operated by Bob Rosbury and Laura Cates, the kennel sits on a serene 10 acres of wooded property and can board up to 40 dogs and 15 cats at one time.
‘We don’t have the flat screen TVs and stuff, but we don’t think that’s what dogs want,? Cates said. ‘They want someone to play ball with them, take them on trails. That’s what makes us a little bit different from other kennels.?
When your pet isn’t napping on a raised bed with a warm blanket, they could be walking the nature trails, running around the fenced-in yard, listening to soothing music or dining on organic treats that don’t have the fillers and by-products found in most dog foods.
‘All the treats we give are baked treats made from peanut butter, flour, raisins and fruit,? Cates said. ‘The dogs love it.?
Having worked for the Michigan Humane Society for 12 years, Cates is thoroughly familiar with animal behavior and has had experience with innumerable dogs.
‘We really get to know these dogs, whether they’re here for a day or a week,? she said. ‘We try and make it as much like home as we can.?
Better yet, the prices at Angelic Tails Kennel are affordable for anyone.
Day camp for dogs is only $10 a day and an overnight stay is only $15. Cats are only $11 overnight.
The kennel offers various add-on services, such as the nature walk, play time and even de-stressing animal massages for under $8.
‘We don’t want people going away on vacation to worry about the high cost to board their pets,? Rosbury added. ‘Hopefully, we can be people’s first choice in caring for their pets while they’re away.?
Angelic Tails also offers in-home services, such as pet sitting for those pets who may not be keen on staying in a kennel.
‘While we’re there, if people want us to get their mail, water their plants, we’ll do it too,? Cates said.
Because Cates and Rosbury live just down the road from the kennel, they are very flexible with their clients? schedules and are willing to accommodate your every need.
‘We just love and want to take care of the pets and support this community,? Rosbury said.
