Clarkston’s kickers celebrated senior night by pushing for a win.
All of their shots were blocked, though, and they settled for a tie, 0-0.
‘It been like that the whole season. We have been playing well,? said Clarkston coach Sarah Wasilk. ‘We have either come out one point short, or a tie. We’re still pushing forward.?
Lapeer East possessed the ball for the first 15 minutes of the game. After that, Clarkston tightly held control of the ball for the rest of the game.
‘I thought my girls controlled the ball really well on the offensive end,? said Wasilk. ‘We had a lot of opportunities, just the shots didn’t fall tonight. It was good experience for them. Defense was very strong, they worked together. Forwards worked together. Everybody played tough.
‘Lauren Wagner had a great game. My defense, Audrey Batchnik, Chris (Rozwadowski) and Bree (Timm) had a great game, too.?
The Lady Wolves out shot the Eagles 9-1.
Clarkston made three shots on goal in the first half and six in the next half.
The Eagles got one try in the last minute of the game, but it was stopped by Damaree Wells.
‘We only have one game against Royal Oak,? said Wasilk going into this week. ‘Every team in the OAA is tough. It will certainly be a tough game, but we are looking forward to it. We haven’t played them since the beginning of the season. It should be a totally different match up at this point because so many teams change throughout the season so I am looking forward to it.?
The varsity team’s overall record stands at 0-9-5.
JV won their game against the Eagles, 2-1.
They played Royal Oak on Tuesday.
They will play Waterford Kettering on Monday. JV begins at 5:30, varsity follows.
Seniors Julie Warner, Caitlin Smith and Dani Thomas have one more home game. Their last home game will be Tuesday, May 20 against Troy-Athens.
