A Brandon High School student who showed a knife to a student he said had been harassing him was suspended and is facing an expulsion hearing.
According to police reports, the 17-year-old student brought a cutting utility knife to school on March 25, removed it from his pocket during class and brandished it at a 16-year-old student. The motion was observed by other students, who brought it to the teacher’s attention.
The knife was handed over to Principal Michael Ferguson and the student said he brought the knife to school because the 16-year-old student had been harassing him and he wants it to stop. He admitted showing the other student the knife, but denied threatening that he was going to kill him.
The student was released to his parents and suspended pending the expulsion hearing.
‘Weapons will not be tolerated in Brandon High School,? said Ferguson.
