They’ve got spirit

Last Wednesday, fans gathered in the Clarkston High School gym to encourage their competitive cheer teams at the OAA Division II league meet.
Clarkston ladies cheered and smiled for three rounds before taking third place with a total of 640 points.
‘I thought everyone did a really nice job,? said Coach Chandra Price. ‘I was pleased. I thought they improved on areas I was worried about. Then, we had some mishaps I wasn’t expecting – all fixable things.?
Rochester Adams took first place with a total of 675.04 points.
Next, in second place was Waterford Mott with 652.6 points.
West Bloomfield’s team took fourth place with a total of 581.14 and Lahser took last place with 378.4 in points.
Tuesday the team competed against the same schools at Adams High School.
On Saturday, the Varsity team and JV team will participate in Davison’s Cheer Competition.
Last year, the Varsity team took first place in Division 1. The JV team took first place in their competition and the freshman team took second place.

Before the Clarkston Chiefs took over the Super Bowl, the Freshman White Cheer team dominated Brandon High School at the 4th Annual NYFL Mega Cheer competition.
The girls cheered their way into two first places and won the best overall team award at the Nov. 2 event.
‘We could not be prouder,? said Freshman White Head Coach Shelly Rouse. ‘The girls deserved it. They worked so hard. They put their hearts into it and it paid off.?
Only three of the girls were on the squad before this year. The rest of the team started this year.
Members of the Freshman White Cheer team are Rylee Aranosian, Kylie Centers, Genna Castillo, Kristie Carroll, Lydia Hall, Emily Kopsch, Emily Kreski, Samantha Kissel, Olivia James, Colbey Rouse, Jessica Smith, Tiffany Senerius and Lilli Young.
Rouse was assisted with coaching with the help of Carrie Aranosian and Dawn Carroll.
‘My girls have made me so proud to be their coach,? said Rouse. ‘They were amazing! I don’t think any of us will ever forget that day.
‘I would also like to say something about the Chiefs organization – I think a special thanks should go out to the Clarkston Chiefs. They allow these kids to be part of such a fantastic program.?
