Peace Makers give 20 seniors a brighter Christmas

More than 40 Clear Lake Elementary students involved with the Peace Makers Club gathered Dec. 5 to pack Christmas gifts for 20 senior citizens living at Bortz Health Care of Oakland in Orion Township.
The seniors, whom the club has ‘adopted? as their grandparents, each received a bag full of goodies on Saturday, ranging from homemade ornaments and Christmas cards, to hand lotions, blankets and other fun items.
During their visit, the kids sang carols with the seniors and played BINGO.
Bortz has been involved with the club since 2002.
The Peace Maker’s Club is a parent-led group dedicated to community service projects. Approximately 47 students from the third, fourth and fifth grades are involved.
