Quisenberry to run for village president

Ortonville-Former Brandon School Board Trustee Ken Quisenberry announced last week he will challenge current Village Council President Sue Bess in the September election.
‘I’m seeking a little change in direction for the village,? said Quisenberry, 48. ‘With my background in the school district and working with a $30 million yearly budget coupled with the $73 million bond issue, I’m well qualified to contend with the village issues.?
Quisenberry, 48, was first elected to the board in 1999 and decided to not seek reelection this year. During his two terms on the board, he served one-year as president and seven years as finance committee chairperson. He recently completed 96 consecutive school board meetings. Quisenberry is married to Nikki and they have two children Sean, 22, and Shannon, 21, both Brandon High School graduates.
As of June 13, Bess, 57, who has been on the council for 21 years, 18 of those as council president and Quisenberry will run for council president, a 2-year term. Three trustee positions are also available? one a 2-year term and two 4-year terms. Councilmembers Marcy Hanes and Mary Kassuba have announced their plans to run again for their respective 4-year term. Councilmember Bob Flath said he will not seek reelection. Residents Lee Stewart and Michael Via are vying for Flath’s two year term.
