Seven members of the Oxford varsity girls track team qualified for the Division I state finals at their regional meet this past weekend.
Senior captains Tiara Tatarczuk, Ashley Eller and Jacqui Sylva, as well as senior Natalie Lukas qualified for the state finals after their 51.8 second place finish in the 400-meter relay.
Sophomore Hannah George and freshmen Kate Wolanin and Shannon Seeley also qualified for states for their third place finish in the 800-meter relay and the 1600-meter relay, respectively.
At the regional meet, the boys team placed 11th overall. Nonetheless, coach Andrew McDonald said they competed well.
Senior Russ Francis placed 7th in the shot put and 5th in the discus and senior Nick Collier placed 5th in the 100-meter dash.
The teams will compete in the FML meet at Brandon High School today at 2:30 (tickets are $5) and will compete at the Oakland County meet on Friday at 3 p.m. (also $5). The state finals will be June 2 at East Kentwood High School.
