Hadley-As temperatures cool and leaves begin to fall, another sign of impending autumn comes with the return of the Hadley Harvest Festival this weekend.
The festival ‘gives a chance for families to come out,? said Mike Madeja, owner of The Parlor, 3527 Hadley Road, a coordinator for this year’s harvest festival.
‘We always put on a good time,? said Madeja.
The festival begins at 9 a.m., Sept. 16, with a majority of the happenings taking place along Hadley Road.
‘In the south end of town in the old ball field we’ll have a township- wide lawn sale,? said Madeja. ‘We’ll have a DJ down there and there will be food. The historic mill will be open, and closer to town hall there will be a quilt show.?
Elaine Matznick, owner of Elaine’s Quilty Shop, 4600 Pratt Road, said the quilt show is back by popular demand.
‘It was such a great success last year,? said Matznick. ‘The ladies here are very excited about doing it. It’s a friendly show.?
Hadley said a group of quilters that meet regularly on Wednesdays were instrumental in organizing the show, which will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 10 a.m.- 4 p.m on Sept. 16 in the Historic Town Hall.
Matznick said the festival has something for all ages.
‘It’s family oriented, there’s stuff going on in the whole town,? said Matznick. ‘It’s for everybody.?
Matznick added she thinks this year’s festival will be bigger than in years past.
‘It’s growing. It was fantastic last year, and we think it will be even better this year. No one will be disappointed,? said Matznick.
‘It’s a nice family outing,? agreed Madeja. ‘Come out and have a good time, relax, get some good food and some good entertainment.?
