The Clarkston cheerleading squad will be making some changes this season. The MHSAA is requiring all schools to participate in the competitive cheer for 2006-07. Clarkston previously competed in sideline cheer competitions.
CHS cheerleading Coach Chandra Price said the change will not be huge.
‘I look at it as a challenge,? Price said. ‘The real big difference is they have one extra round. The girls are excited for it. I think it’s nice because for once the entire cheerleading community will be unified.?
During the fall season the cheerleading team will not compete, but will do plenty to help promote school spirit and give back to the community.
‘We really want to give back,? Price said. ‘They are looking for creative ways to let people know it’s all about spirit and fun. We want to help promote all the fall sports. We use this season as conditioning.?
In November, the cheerleading squad will hold another set of tryouts for the competitive season.
