Clarkston Village Dental gets ready for back to school

When they learned Lighthouse Emergency Services needed help gathering school supplies for needy families, Dr. Robert Bice and the staff at Clarkston Village Dental were quick to lend a hand.
‘It’s our way of giving back,? said Hygienist Amy Wilson. Wilson and other staff members visited Clarkston schools in the past to help demostrate proper care for teeth.
This time, the staff answered the call from Lighthouse, who put together back-to-school supplies for 60 children who prereigstered for support. The staff volunteered to supply lunchbags for students, only they decided to go a step futher and put together a healthy start carepackage.
Inside each bag the staff included toothpaste and other oral hygenie products and a bottle of water, a healthy alternative to soda.
‘The healthy start idea is a great idea,? said Bice, who indicated the prevalence of soda in schools makes the decision easier for children to turn to unhealthy snacks, ‘This is a good starting point for kids to start good habits for this school year.?
