Lake Orion Schools Executive Director of Business Services Jillynn Keppler said it looks as if state revenue dollar amount increases offered per student will be set at $220-$230.
At the school board’s May 24 meeting, Keppler asked the board for direction on how to proceed in preparing the 2006-2007 budget, for finalization in June.
‘That amount looks to be solid,? she said. ‘Our budget wasn’t balanced to begin with…we used fund balance.?
Keppler recommended going with the increase of $220 per student. She said that amount will only affect the amount of fund balance used to balance the budget, not any reductions that have already been made.
Trustee Jim Weidman said he would be surprised if the schools actually saw that amount from the state.
‘If it does come in at $220, how much fund balance will we have to use?? he asked.
Keppler said currently the budget uses $800,000 of fund balance to be balanced; the $220 increase per student from the state would reduce it to $400,000.
