Atlas Twp.-Medical reports from the township fire department not only arrived on time this month? they were early.
Following February’s six-month probation for failure to correctly submit medical reports, executive director of the Genesee County Medical Control Authority, Bruce Trevithick said reports were filed ahead of schedule this month.
The reports in question are documents filled out by the fire department when they go out on emergency calls.
‘Whenever the fire department goes out on a run, they’re responsible for completing a patient contact record,? said Trevithick.
‘Every month they are supposed to submit all of those run records as well as a summary sheet.?
However, ATFD chief James Naugler said he was surprised last month upon receiving news of the probation. Naugler said the incident stemmed from a miscommunication between himself and the GCMCA.
Trevuthick disagreed, saying he had communicated the situation to Naugler.
To prevent any further discrepancy, Naugler said he is sending his reports as certified mail. This way, says Naugler, he has a record of when they were received.
‘Basically what we’re going to do is make sure they’re going to continue to get (the reports) in,? said Trevithick.
Had the ATFD continued to have difficulties with the reports, Naugler said he would stand to have his Medical First Responder (MFR) license suspended.
Reports due on March 15 were received by the GCMCA on March 8.
