A 37-year-old Orion man has been charged, after the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department discovered 15 unregistered handguns and other weapons in the man’s Barrington Circle home.
Acting on a tip, OCSD detectives from the Orion Substation, working with members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team and Special Response Team, excecuted a search warrant on the man’s home on March 3.
Also found were 10 long guns and over 17,000 rounds of ammunition.
The residence is located within the Barrington Cove Condominium development, on Lapeer Road near Clarkston Road.
The area is near Lake Orion High School, Scripps Middle School, and Stadium Drive Elementary.
The man taken into custody identified as Angel Seraph Shamaya, also known as Scott Craig McReynolds.
He was arrested without incident and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
All of the weapons and ammunition were confiscated and entered into evidence.
Of the ten long guns seized, two were identified as Ruger mini-14 rifles with a .223 caliber, and one Ruger mini-30 with a 7.62 x 39 caliber.
Those guns are all considered high- power semiautomatic rifles.
Shamaya was charged with four counts of firearms safety inspection violations, all 90 day misdemeanors and/or $100 fine.
He was also charged with a malicious use of a communication device for phone threats he placed to his ex-girlfriend.
Police say Shamaya relocated to the area last Aug., after his ex-girlfriend moved to Michigan from Arizona
She has custody of the couple’s child.
That is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail.
Shamaya was arraigned on March 4, and posted a $5,000 bond. He is ordered to have no contact with his ex-girlfriend or her family.
‘We are not sure what the suspect had in mind with all of these weapons and ammo,? said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bourchard, ‘but I am pleased that my deputies were able to remove these guns from a residential neighborhood, and they are now off the streets of Oakland County.?
