Now that the Brandon golf team’s Flint Metro League dual meet season is through, the Blackhawks will turn their attention to district action.
The Blackhawks closed out their dual meet season with a 145-161 win against Lapeer West Sept. 21 at Goodrich Country Club. Brandon finished with a league dual meet record of 6-1, with the postseason league meet scheduled for Monday, Oct. 3 at Sugarbush Golf Course in Davison.
Brandon’s Ryan Bilkos was the medalist for the Lapeer West matchup, shooting a one-under par 34 for the meet. Brian Jordan was right behind at 35, while Will Hubbard shot 37 and Josh Williams 39.
One day earlier, the Blackhawks defeated Clio 157-168 at Clio Country Club. Jordan and Tom Voyer were co-medalists for the match, each shooting 38, while Williams shot 40 for the day.
The Blackhawks were slated to compete in Division 2 district action Friday, Sept. 30 at Lapeer Country Club.
Brandon coach John Ubbing said he is optimistic the Blackhawks will succeed in districts if the team can keep playing at its current pace.
‘I think we should be able to get out of districts and advance to regionals if the kids play as they have in tournament and dual match play,? he said.
