So far, Goodrich’s varsity girls basketball team is making quick work of their league opponents.
The Martians earned a 60-16 win against Lake Fenton in a Sept. 20 Genesee Area Conference Red Division matchup. Goodrich took a 20-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Junior Autumn Haggadone led the Martians with 14 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Kortni Elsworth and junior Paige Plant added 10 points each.
Goodrich’s offense took control from the get-go and never let up against visiting Montrose Sept. 15.
The Martians scored 27 points in the first quarter on their way to a 68-22 victory against the Rams in Genesee Area Conference Red Division action.
By contrast, the Rams only scored 10 points in the first quarter ? and that would prove to be their high-water mark, as Montrose only scored 12 points the rest of the game.
Elsworth’s three-point shooting opened things up for the Goodrich offense. Elsworth drilled three shots from behind the arc on her way to finishing with 23 points, leading all scorers. She also had five steals for the Martians.
Haggadone also had a solid game for the Martians, finishing with 12 points and six rebounds. Senior Amy Ramiller added nine points, while Plant led the Martians with seven rebounds.
