Ortonville- Santa needs a new ride.
The sleigh that Santa Claus has rode into Ortonville on in the Christmas in the Village parade has been sold. The sleigh was on loan only.
Brandon Township recreation director Fred Waybrant is looking for a two-seater wooden sleigh with runners than can be placed on a trailer.
‘Just something big enough to hold Santa,? Waybrant said. ‘He’s so big he needs the space to move around. We don’t want to confine him too much.?
The township is hoping someone can volunteer a sleigh. They do not want to purchase one because they have no place to store it.
Although a sleigh would be ideal, Waybrant says they are open to any ideas and will make work whatever comes available for the Christmas parade, which is planned for 3 p.m. Dec. 3.
‘If someone has a unique horse and buggy that might even work,? Waybrant said. ‘Something wide open so he can wave his arms and say hi to all the residents. One way or the other, Santa will come to town.?
