Lake Orion Middle Schools played host for this year’s MAMSE (Michigan Association of Middle School Educators), held March 10-11 at Scripps Middle School.
The conference brought over 81 presenters, 700 registrants and many education vendors to the event, which featured keynote speaker Jack Berckemeyer, and numerous sessions such as Book Clubs, Bully Proofing, Water Quality, Robotics, Forensic Science, and a trip to the Moose Tree Nature Preserve, located next to Webber Elementary School on Clarkston Road.
Berckemeyer is Assistant Executive Director for the National Middle School Association, and MAMSE is dedicated to meeting the needs of students aged 10-14, and serves as an advocate for middle level educators.
MAMSE was founded in 1971 by Dr. Louis G. Romano, and group of middle level educators. It is the oldest middle level professional organization in the country.
Lake Orion’s Oakview Middle School (principal Alice Seppanen) and Waldon Middle School (principal Heidi Kast) co-hosted the event with Scripps (prinicipal Ken Gutman).
