Bullfrog’s Bar and Grill

Bullfrog’s Bar and Grill, located at 2225 Ortonville Road, Ortonville, has long been known for their frog legs and other fine food.
Under the new management team of Amy Morales, Matt Farris, and Lou Columbo, Bullfrog’s, entering their sixth year in Ortonville, is looking to broaden their horizons and showcase a wide variety of entertainment for people in the Ortonville community.
‘We’re trying to build our evening business,? Columbo said. ‘Our kitchen and restaurant is great, and we want to build off that. We want something for every night for the people in the area.?
The new team brings plenty of experience from other metro Detroit establishments. Morales comes from Have A Nice Day Cafe in Pontiac, while Farris was the old general manager at that restaurant, and also worked at Capital Grille in Troy. Columbo comes from the Post chain of bars, which has seven locations in the metro Detroit area. Farris and Columbo each bring 15 years of restaurant experience to Bullfrog’s.
Bullfrog’s is planning an all-day celebration for St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17. The restaurant will be opening at 8 a.m., and will feature a breakfast buffet, green beer all day, as well as an ice luge (a big ice-sculpted frog with a leprachaun hat on top).
In addition, Jon Kott (a country/rock artist) will be performing, and Columbo said he is hoping to add other entertainment.
There are plenty of other opportunities to experience live entertainment at Bullfrog’s.
Each Monday, Bullfrog’s will feature two different movies with a common theme (for instance, they recently showed two movies starring Will Ferrell, Anchorman and Old School).
A live karaoke night is held each Tuesday, and each Wednesday during the summer, there will be a Bike Night (sponsored by Molson’s).
There is also live musical entertainment each Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Wednesdays feature Kott’s country/rock music; Thursdays feature the band The Foundation; and Saturdays feature a mixed lineup of bands, headlined by the Justice Band and the Tim Diaz Band.
Morales said Bullfrog’s recently hosted the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting, and hosted a benefit for an Ortonville resident. She also said during the summer, Bullfrog’s is looking forward to working with DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston to promote their restaurant during live concerts.
In addition to the daily entertainment, Bullfrog’s will still feature the food that customers have come to know and love.
Owners John and Kim Hagar say their frog legs, both sauteed and deep fried, are the number one seller of the Bullfrog’s menu, and the staff of more than 50 area employees are happy to serve them.
While the frog legs are a favorite, Bullfrog’s offers an enticing mix of global fare from the juiciest award winning prime rib, to hometown venison white chili, to mouthwatering quesidillas, and a surplus of light dining choices. To keep the menu fresh, Morales said Bullfrog’s offers daily specials.
Morales said Bullfrog’s has something to offer for everyone.
‘Our staff is upbeat and fun, and the food is really good,? she said. ‘We get a diverse mix of people in here.?
