It’s been more than 13 years since Larry Simms, owner of Simms Chevrolet sold his first vehicle from the Ortonville location. Since then much has changed.
General Motor’s products have improved, thousands of vehicles have been sold and major renovations are nearing completion.
While a lot has changed personal service remains.
‘This community has grown since 1992,? said Simms. ‘While many of our customers work out of the area and commuter to work, many are now buying their cars right here at home.?
‘The population of the area continues to grow and so are we.?
Simms commitment to area growth was evident during the summer of 2004 when demolition crews removed the old front section of the building preparing for major renovations. An additional 15,000 square foot will be added on to the existing building.
‘Business has grown over the past few years and we’re expanding to meet the needs of the community.?
The two story addition, completed in February expanded the facility to about 55,000 square feet. Ungrades include new offices, additions to the employee lunch area, a quick lube and new customer lounge area. The addition also includes a children’s play area and service greeting area to meet the needs of the growing customer base.
‘We offer a big city selection with hometown service,? said Simms. ‘The personal service is the key to our success. We emphasize working with the same sale person each time customers come in’longevity of is important.?
Larry Simms purchased the dealership in 1992 from Owen Chevrolet which opened the M-15 location in 1979.
‘We’ve built this business on new customers becoming repeat customers,? said Simms. ‘A lots changed since 1992 but we’ve grown, it’s a sign of our commitment to this area.?
