Edward Breslin says the doors to Brandon Schools will remain open to the community’after school, summer or wherever there’s a need.
A radio director for 14 years, Breslin, 47, was hired as Brandon School District’s Community Education Coordinator and Information Service Director. From summer camps, to publishing the school districts first ever newsletter to expanding the districts community education, Breslin brings a background in media and public relations to the position.
A Dearborn Heights native, Breslin was the oldest child, with four younger sisters. Raised with so many women, Breslin says he admired his father, and followed a similar career path, from being a reporter to public relations.
‘My dad was my best friend, father, and hero,? said Breslin.
After studying telecommunications at Michigan State University, he attended Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in 1981. For the next 10 years, he worked as the Morning Drive Assignment Editor for WWJ-CBS Radio in Detroit. He later went on to Liggett Broadcasting in Port Huron, where he supervised five radio stations helping them to cover and report on community events. After a total of 14 years of working with radio, Breslin said he decided to make a move to better assist the community as Community Education Coordinator with the Port Huron Area School District. Breslin stayed in Port Huron for four years before coming to the Brandon School District in July.
Within five years, Breslin says he hopes to further establish a good community education program for Brandon School District that is successfully running and will only continue to grow long after he is gone.
Breslin is a Davison resident and lives with his Great Dane, Luci. He enjoys golfing, riding his motorcycle, and taking Luci on long walks.
