See new PBS kids’ show at Septemberfest

Ortonville – Festival-goers will have a chance to preview a new PBS show at Saturday’s Septemberfest.
‘Paperbag Theatre?, a professionally filmed family production, will be shown from 10 a.m. to noon at the Old Town Hall during Septemberfest Sept. 25.
The entertaining matinee features costumed paper-bag puppets, says Sue Marquis, administrative assistant of Bridgewood Church of Ortonville-Clarkston, which is sponsoring the event.
‘I know that sounds really cheesy, but it’s incredibly cool,? she said.
Producers recently received a letter of intent from Detroit Public Television to air the tongue-in-cheek comedy of Paperbag Theatre locally as well as promote the show nationally, said show creator Ric Viers. The show will be aired beginning spring 2005.
Viers compares the multi-tiered humor–appealing to both kids and parents–to that of classic predecessors.
‘It’s a great opportunity for corporate sponsors to get in on the ground floor of the next Muppet Show,? said Detroit Public Television Vice President Jeff Forster.
