Amber Beard’s goal was enough for Goodrich’s girls soccer team to clinch a district championshp June 4.
The Martians defeated visiting LakeVille 1-0 in the district final matchup that day. Beard scored her goal with about 12 minutes left in the game. Beard’s sister, Brittany, earned the win in goal for the Martians.
Goodrich advanced to the district finals with a 6-1 win against North Branch the previous day at Goodrich. Meredith Mayberry lit up the scoreboard for four Martian goals, while Amber Beard and Ali Smith each scored one goal apiece. Kathryn Pratt scored the lone North Branch goal.
On Wednesday, June 9, the Martians traveled to Frankenmuth to take on Flint Powers in regional action. Results were not available as of press time.
