Name: Sally Swayne
Occupation: Human Service specialist at Lighthouse of Oakland County in Pontiac.
Personal: The 58- year Brandon Township resident is the mother of five daughters and five granddaughters, all of whom attended Brandon district schools.
Memberships: Swayne is currently a member of the Ortonville United Methodist Church, a chairperson of the Senior Citizen Advisory Council for Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson as well as Blue Cross-Blue Shield. She is a member of the International Institute of Clerks, the Oakland County Clerks Association, the Transportation Task Force, and currently working with the Detroit Tigers for Senior Citizen days at Comerica Park.
Swayne was the township clerk for two terms, leaving the position in 2000 after an election loss to current Township Clerk Jeannie McCreery.
Excited about announcing her candidacy, Swayne says because of her previous eight years of accredited experience as the township clerk she is prepared for the challenging, yet fulfilling, decisions of the position.
‘It is a very special privilege in the clerk’s office to act as a service provider to residents,? said Swayne who adds that it is a good feeling to her to go to work at a job she loved, in conjunction with working for the community which she lives in.
Of her accomplishments Swayne says she completed during her eight years of township clerk, she is most proud of Community Block Grant allocations of approximately $320,000, updating the election process to optical scan tabulators, amassing 2000 census data for a revenue to the township, and faciliating Brandon school staff with training to register qualified students to vote.
