Clarkston Community Schools employees on the prior layoff list were brought back.
With over 60 employees retiring from district, the Board of Education voted to bring 50 back from the pink slip list from May.
The vote on Monday night brought back 33 teachers, five bus drivers, six custodians, three media paraprofessionals, five special education para educators, two clerks, a secretary and a central office support employee.
Human Resource Director Anita Banach informed the board no one is left on the layoff list for the custodial staff or bus drivers. She also noted the transportation department will need to hire more drivers because they won’t have enough.
The board also approved a ten cent increase in the amount charged for lunches. Elementary schools, from $2.25 to $2.35, Sashabaw Middle School, $2.30 to $2.40, Clarkston Junior High and Clarkston High School, $2.50 to $2.60.
