Yvonne Estelle Gonda, age 87, died peacefully at home on Sept. 2, 2024, surrounded by loving family.
She is predeceased by her parents, Edmund Joseph and Estelle Surprenant, her sister Shirley Porter, her brother-in-law, Benjamin Aste and her in-laws Mary and Andrew Gonda.
Yvonne is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Roger L. Gonda Sr. MD, sister Geraldine Aste, children Roger (Joyce) Gonda Jr, Jeannie (Tim) Thoits, Kevin (Deborah) Gonda, Katherine (Michael) Harding, Eric (Mary) Gonda and Andrew Gonda II.
Yvonne had 14 grandchildren; Julianne (John) Schaal, Angela Gonda (Andrew Fisher), Roger Gonda, Robert Thoits (Danielle Tooley), Yvonne Thoits (Michael Lester), Kristin (Liam) Hand, Kevin Gonda, Michael (Annie) Harding, Cliff Harding, Philip (Grace) Harding, Laura (Evan) Choinski, Eric Gonda, Al (Sara Muenz) Gonda and Andrew Gonda III. Additionally, she loved her five great-grandchildren: Isaac and Levi Schaal, and Benjamin, Maxwell and Elaina Fisher.
Yvonne enjoyed attending and especially hosting family holidays and events. She was a graduate of Cass Tech High School and the University of Detroit School of Dental Hygiene. Yvonne’s artistic talent increased throughout her life and her art graces the homes of her loving family.
Funeral Service was held Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell Rd. in Orion Township. Interment is at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Suggested memorials to the Orion Art Center.
