Women’s Club will host expert on autism

Beth Kimmel will be the guest of the Lake Orion Women’s Club during the Thurs., Nov. 9 meeting at the Orion Township Library.
Kimmel will speak on the topic of autism beginning at 1 p.m. The program will follow an 11:30 potluck luncheon. All are invited to attend at no cost.
Kimmel, a resident of Orion Township, has a child with autism. She has invested considerable time and energy researching the condition and is knowledgeable on the topic.
Women’s Club member Vivian Ring, who has a grandchild with autism, believes the topic is timely and one that many people know very little about.
‘There are a lot more children with autism than people realize,? said Ring. ‘Beth has a great deal of information to share on this subject. We need to know more about this.?
The Women’s Club is one of the longest-serving service clubs in the Orion community, and is part of the national Women’s Club organization.
Besides hosting the free lunches and guest speaker programs, the Club provides money for children’s causes and scholarships for deserving students.
Ring said the Club’s current membership stands at 22, and more women are encouraged to join.
