Wine-tasting paints rosy picture for OAC

The recent wine-tasting party at the home of Steve and Cindy Danton lifted the spirits of their nearly 70 guests — while raising more than $2,000 for the Lake Orion Art Center.
Art Center Director Reggie Harrison said the event was such a success, that a similar fundraiser is planned for Jan. 5, 2007, at the home of Jim and Lisa Cummins.
That event will include the addition of yet another segment devoted to tasting. For those who prefer hops over nectar from the vine, participants will be able to sample and compare a selection of the finest beers, she said.
‘This (wine tasting) was kind of a new approach to fundraising for us,? said Harrison. ‘For our inaugural event, it went very well.
“The Art Center is very fortunate to have such an enthusiastic group of supporters. It makes for a fun event and greatly benefits the Art Center.?
She added that the financial support of the community is crucial for maintaining regular programming at the Art Center, including classes and exhibitions.
The organization’s biggest fundraiser comes on Feb. 10, 2007, when the 18th Annual Snowflake Ball takes place at Devil’s Ridge in Oxford. Tickets to the event are $18 apiece.
The Lake Orion Art Center is located at 115 S. Anderson, adjacent to the fire hall and Children’s Park.
The Art Center is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays during November. In December, hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays to accommodate visitors during the annual Holiday Market.
