The Girls Varsity Soccer team needed a win against undefeated Holly on Monday, May 24 to avoid finishing with a losing record in their last season in the FML.
Tied at one late in the second half, junior Amanda Roth scored the game winning goal with 58 seconds left to lift Oxford to a 2-1 victory over the Bronchos.
The win gave the Wildcats a 4-4-1 record in the FML.
In a make up against Lapeer West on Friday, May 21, the Wildcats battled to a 0-0 tie in a game that was previously called at halftime due to rain. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats lost to Linden 6-1 on Wednesday, May 19. They fell behind 1-0 by halftime, but the floodgates opened in the second half as they allowed five goals in the loss.
Oxford travels to Lake Orion on Thursday, May 27 before taking on Romeo High School at home on Tuesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. in the District quarterfinals.
