Good pitching and some clutch hitting led the Goodrich baseball team to a May 3 doubleheader sweep of host LakeVille.
Basil Wilson’s bases-loaded double in the top of the sixth inning with two outs and a full count propelled the Martians to a 7-3 win against the Falcons in the second game of the doubleheader. In the first game, the Martians defeated LakeVille 6-3.
The two wins gave the Martians a 16-5 overall record and a 12-0 record in Genesee Area Conference play.
In the first game, pitcher Max Bell dominated the LakeVille lineup, striking out 14 batters. He also drove in two runs at the plate. Kirk Elsworth went 2-for-3 with one RBI, while Matt Hughes had a double and scored two runs.
