The Oxford Varsity boys soccer team made an amazing comeback against Swartz Creek on Monday night after coming off two losses in a row.
Last Wednesday, the boys fell 1-2 to Lapeer East.
Coach John Thaler said the teams? lack of ‘intensity? and new players being entered into the line-up because of various injuries prevented the Wildcats from getting into their usual rhythm.
On Saturday, the Wildcats once again fell 1-4 to Birmingham Seaholm, still nursing injuries from key players.
But when the Cats took on the Dragons Monday night, they didn’t give them any room to score.
Oxford got a goal in the early minutes of the game from a left-footed shot to the near post by Dave Hurrish.
From there, senior captain Zac Wasylyna had two goals, seniors Brian Ward and Francesco Paese had one goal each, junior Gethin Angell added two more and senior Alex McKeown ended the game with a goal.
‘The game was a definite boost for the boys after playing some close matches,? Thaler said.
Assists were credited to Wasylyna, Paese, Mark Jones, Erik Anderson and Alec Piliafas.
The boys? overall record is now 11-4 and FML is 6-1.
They travel to Linden tonight for a 6:45 p.m. game.
