Week one done for new supt.

Even though he technically started his new job as Superintendent of Oxford Schools last week, Dr. William Skilling really began his district duties a while ago.
‘I wanted to meet with all of the administrators one-on-one to get to know them better,? he said.
Skilling spent the last few weeks getting to know the district’s administrators, administrative assistants, bus drivers, those in the transportation department and the custodians.
Now, his goal is to get to know the people in the community better.
To do this, he would like to become active in the Oxford Rotary Club and plans on attending the next meeting with club secretary, and assistant superintendent, Nancy Kammer.
‘I’m trying to get to know as many people as I can as quickly as I can,? he said.
He and his wife Nancy, and their three school-aged children ? Mallory, Scott and Zac ? are working on purchasing a home in the village, where ‘there’s a great convenience of being close to everything and all the amenities of the downtown area.?
With the July 4 holiday falling in the middle of a work-week, Skilling said he took advantage of the empty building at the Board of Education to get his office organized.
‘I’m a real concrete, sequential type of individual,? he said. ‘So, I have to know where everything is.?
Skilling was the superintendent of Webberville Community Schools for four years, has 26 years of experience in education and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University.
