Monday, April 19, the Lady Dragon lacrosse team hosted Waterford United for exciting games and mixed results.
The varsity girls lost another heartbreaker 9-8 on a last-second Waterford goal. They are now 1-3-1 on the young season.
Marisa Secontine and Ronnie Booth scored twice. Jodie Parker, Becky Seeds, Paige Hammerl and Sarah Cech each added one, and Parker and Corey Tremblay had assists for the Dragons. Kristen Dolecki saved five of eight Waterford shots on goal, and Lindsay Butterfield stopped two of eight shots.
The JV girls enjoyed another win, 6-4. Mary Thompson scroed three goals, while Miranda Lieblein, Emily Hendrix and Andrea Roll scored once each. Beth Giguere was outstanding in the goal circle, stopping eight of 10 Waterford shots. Tiffanie Smrtnik saved one of three shots in the second half.
Wednesday, April 21 the LO girls hosted Rochester high school.
The varsity team fought to a 7-7 tie with previously unbeated Rochester, and are now 1-3-2 on the season. Goals were scored by Booth with three, Hammerl with two, and Parker and Cech. Butterfield was outstanding, saving 11 Falcon shots.
The JV girls won their fourth straight game 13-2 and are now four and two. Goals were scored by 11 different players including Temple with two. Nicole Carlini, Melissa Harcourt and Amanda Vaughn each tallied their first goals of the season. Giguere shut out the Falcons in the first half.
The Lady Dragons lacrosse teams traveled to Farmington on Friday night and came home with two quality wins.The varsity, now 2-3-2, played a near flawless game to beat the Falcons, who were ranked 16th in Michigan, by a score of 12-9. Butterfield saved an incredible 18 shots on goal.
Ashley Dakki, Rachel Cohen, Tremblay and Jessica Burke were outstanding on defense. Hammerl led the offensive effort with three goals and three assists. Secontine had two goals and two assists. Parker tallied two goals and an assist, while Jessica Smude and Cech scored two goals each. Booth scored once.
The JV girls increased their winning streak to five games (now 5-2) by beating the Falcons 12-8. Smrtnik saved nine of 11 shots on goal in the second half, taking over for injured starter Giguere. DeMott and Cech each scored three goals, and Mary Thompson tallied twice. Temple, Carlini, KP Gramme and Hendrix all scored once for the Dragons.
