Davison Twp. – A warrant was issued June 29 for the arrest of the driver whose Ken’s Redi-Mix truck crashed into a van April 9 on M-15 near Bristol Road, killing three family members.
The driver, Matthew Woods, 34, of Grand Blanc faces three counts of negligent homicide in the deaths of Pamela Doyon, 36, of Atlas Township; Sam Doyon, 11 months, of Atlas Township; and Sandra Thrasher, 62, of Orion Township.
‘We’re not alleging that he was drunk or anything of that nature,? said Genesee County Prosecutor Art Busch, who cites failure to stop Woods? concrete mixer truck ‘within an assured distance? as cause for issuing the warrant.
Speed was ruled out as a factor, along with drug and alcohol use, said Davison Township Police Chief Larry Hrinik in an interview with The Citizen last month.
‘Especially with a commercial vehicle we allege that this constitutes negligence under Michigan law. You would hope those driving a vehicle of this nature would pay extra attention. The public’s at great risk when people aren’t paying attention,? said Busch. ‘It’s just a very tragic case.?
‘The employees of Ken’s Redi-Mix would like to express their deepest sympathy and sorrow to the Doyon family,? said attorney Mike Haley of Winegarden, Haley, Lindholm & Robertson of Grand Blanc, general legal counsel to Ken’s Redi-Mix.
Negligent homicide carries a sentence of up to two years in state prison, said Busch.
