Waldon Cadet Band ‘A? number one

The 66 member, Waldon Middle School Cadet Band participated in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s District Festival on March 13 at Lake Orion High School.
The ensemble received a First Division rating from all three of the performance judges and another First Division rating from the sight-reading judge (marks range from I, the highest, to a V).
Sight-reading is performing music without prior knowledge of its content.
Out of 20 possible marks from the four judges, the Waldon Band earned 19 A marks and 1 B+ mark. The seventh and grade group was judged in the categories of tone, intonation, rhythm, technique and musical interpretation.
‘I tried to do the best I could because I know what I do reflects on everyone else. We sounded really good!? trombonist Kristine Lagodna said.
The band’s next performance is May 6 at Rochester High School in a concert with the Van Hoosen Middle School’s eighth grade band. Band members will be in Sandusky, Ohio for a larger regional competition on May 22.
Their spring concert at the Lake Orion Performing Arts Center on May 19 is with the Waldon Concert Orchestra and sixth grade strings.
The band is under the direction of Michael Edwards.
