Voyer, Carroll lead BHS golfers in regional action

The Brandon boys golf team can begin preparing for next year.
The Blackhawks finished 14th out of 15 teams in regional competition Oct. 10 at Lapeer Country Club. Flint Powers won the meet with a team score of 299, while Flint Kearsley finished second and Lapeer West third. Those three teams advance to the Oct. 17 state meet.
Tom Voyer led the Blackhawks with a score of 91, while Jeff Carroll contributed 94.
Coach John Ubbing said the young Blackhawks, who finished 1-5 in Flint Metro League play, gained valuable varsity experience this season.
‘They learned a lot, despite the less than stellar record,? he said. ‘I think they learned where the bar is and where they need to improve.?
With only one upperclassman ? junior Josh Barr ? on this year’s roster, Ubbing said he is optimistic about the prospects for next year. ‘From that standpoint, it is exciting,? he said.
