Santa and Cupid the reindeer made an early visit to Clarkston to help raise money to build a home for a family in need.
John Williamson, owner of Great Lakes Ace Hardware on Sashabaw Road, hosted the fund raiser last Friday for My Habitat Clarkston.
“Habitat is such a great organization and it does such great things for the community, I am happy to help,? Williamson said.
The home on Everest Drive in Independence Township was a forfeiture and tax-foreclosure property. Volunteers are still needed to help finish the project. Various skills are needed. Volunteer Julie Nemeth said volunteers are needed to help get the home ready before Christmas.
Volunteers can sign up at the Habitat for Humanity Oakland County site at habitatoakland.org.
Calvary Lutheran Church, Chase Plastics, Clarkston Community Church, Clarkston State Bank and Nemeth Marketing have partnered with Habitat on the project. Williamson is also collecting donations at Ace Hardware for Habitat through December at registers.
My Habitat Clarkston is a grassroots movement of Clarkston-area residents, community organizations, churches and businesses committed to building a better ‘habitat? for all by collaboratively and voluntarily participating in community-based service projects.
