Lake Orion High School played host to some top notch volleyball at the Dragon Invite on Jan. 14.
Walled Lake Northern won the tournament, with Brighton and Oxford finishing close behind.
The Dragons went 6-8 in their games, but the tough opposition they faced will can only help them as the season progresses.
‘We weren’t on our ‘A? game all day, but that happens,? said coach Mike Hatch.
‘It will toughen us up for the rest of league play and districts to follow.?
Earlier in the week, the team’s hopes of winning the OAA II title got a major boost when they beat divisional opponent West Bloomfield on the road 25-17, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-18.
Senior Kristin Larsen had 11 kills and was 18-21 serving as the Dragons improved to 3-1 in league play.
Senior Chrissie Janello had 10 digs and junior Sarah Brown chipped in 37 assists in the victory.
The team will travel to the Kettering Invite on Jan. 21 and then return home to host Waterford Mott and Stoney Creek next week.
