Village residents may pay less for trash pickup, recycling

At 7 p.m., May 11, the Goodrich Village Council will host a public hearing to review a proposal from Republic Waste Services to extend the current contract for the next four years.
The same service including a 96 gallon rolling trash container for about 600 village residents will cost $10.15 per month’a drop in price from $10.34, or about 2 percent.
‘The village-wide service is less expensive for citizens,? said Jakki Sidge, village administrator.
‘It’s also much less wear and tear on our roads compared to multiple waste companies. The village made the move over to one waste vendor about 10 years ago.?
Village residents will now have some options to consider regarding service, including keeping the same service without the rolling trash container for $9.05 per month, a savings of about 12 percent.
Keeping the same solid waste and recycling services, providing a cart and eight weeks of yard waste (four weeks in the spring and four weeks in the fall) will cost $9.75 per month.
The village council will vote on the contract at their June meeting.
