Village councilman resigns, seat open

Ortonville- Village Council member Tom Peters, 53, resigned his council position Oct. 11 due to a conflict with working hours.
Peters, 53, was first elected to the council in 2001 filling a two year position. He was re-elected in 2003. Peters moved to Ortonville 30 years ago and served for 27 years as a Brandon volunteer firefighter before election to the village council.
‘I love the village,? said Peters. We’ve got a good board and I wish the village good luck with the Main Street project.?
Peters who works at General Motors Service Parts Operations in Swartz Creek plans on retirement in 2006 and says he’ll then run for the village council. Nominations are being accepted for the position.
