A rash of vehicle break-ins has once again hit the Oxford Woods subdivision over the weekend.
According to sheriff’s reports, a majority of the incidents occurred Sunday on Somerville, Pembroke, Trinity Ct. and York.
A $500 electric drill and 10 CDs were stolen from a car on Trinity Ct. while a radar detector, portable DVD player, digital camera and $80 were stolen on York.
Somerville saw the most action, with three golf clubs, a cell phone, CDs, DVDs, cologne, an electronic Burberry, digital camera, a $700 home air freshener and sunglasses stolen from three different vehicles on the street.
Detective Ken Alderman of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Oxford substation said the only person who witnessed anything happen was on Pembroke.
A woman was visiting a friend and went to leave around 3 a.m. on Sunday when she noticed the smell of cigarette smoke in her car and CDs missing.
Her report stated that a ‘young white male about 6 ft.? approached her in a ‘black coat and black knit hat.? Scared, she took off in her car.
‘It’s not really much to go on,? Alderman said.
One thing all the larcenies had in common is that all the vehicles were unlocked.
Alderman wishes to stress the importance of locking vehicle doors, especially during the holiday season. ?’Tis the season for LFA’s (larcenies from automobiles),? he said.
This is the second time this year a string of vehicle larcenies has hit the Oxford Woods subdivision.
