Varsity Orion Volleyball team celebrates their league title, loses in district final

The Lake Orion High School varsity volleyball team tied with Rochester for a OAA II League Title on Feb. 23, and went on to defeat Pontiac Northern in their first-round district game on March 5.
The Dragons defeated Northern and Avondale to advance to the finals, where they lost to Troy Athens, 10-15, 10-15, as Athens took their third consecutive district title.
Lake Orion coach Mike Hatch said his team was led by the spiking of Lindsey Randazzo and Kristin Larsen, and the serving of Hilary Conklin, Sarah Papke and Nichole Woityra. Lake Orion finished the season with 22 wins, 18 losses and five ties.
‘A very nice turn around from last year’s seven wins and 23 losses,? said coach Hatch.
