Varsity Dragons claim district baseball crown

The Lake Orion High School varsity baseball program added another Division I district championship to their credentials, as the 2004 team defeated Romeo in the district final on June 4, 7-1.
The team began their district run on June 1, taking out Oxford, 11-6. Joe Barnes went 2-for-3 with two homeruns in that game, while Mike Ripari was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
On June 4, the Dragons defeated Stoney Creek in the district semi-final game, 2-1.
Josh Hughes was on the mound for Lake Orion in that game, as the team went on to face host Romeo in the final.
Sophomore Lee Dickinson was the pitcher in the final game, finishing with a no-hitter as a mostly relief pitcher this season. He struck out eight and walked two.
Nate Recknagel finished 2-for-4 with two homeruns. Ripari went 2-for-4, finishing with one run. Dickinson had two singles, one RBI and one run.
Neil Medchill had three hits for the Dragons, who go on to play in the Utica Regional against the winner of the Rochester Adams Regional.
Their record is currently 24-11 in OAA I.
