As reported previously in The Review, Darci Seipke, a Lake Orion Class of 1998 graduate, was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when she was three-and-a-half years old and, after dealing with the disease for over 20 years, she needs a new kidney. Her family also needs monetary help to offset the cost of her medical bills.
According to her mother Pam, they have started planning events to raise funds for the Darci Seipke Benefit Fund.
Their first event will be a concert held on Tuesday, July 31 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will feature Ernie May and Banjo Friends. It will be held at Civic Center Park and they are asking for a suggested $5 donation.
Community members can test their trivia skills at Trivia Nights, which will be held on Tuesdays, Aug. 28, Sept. 25, Oct. 28 and Nov. 27. The night starts at 7 p.m. in the Community Education Resource Center (CERC) cafeteria. Participants can register by themselves for $10 or with teams of four for $35/team. Open registration will occur at the door.
They will also be hosting a silent auction dinner and a four-person golf scramble in October, and anyone interested in donating an item for these events is greatly appreciated, Pam said.
There are also coin collection jars set up at various places around Lake Orion including the UPS store on Lapeer, HealthQuest on Baldwin, Moto-Medic, Bald Mountain Pharmacy, Caruso Chiropractic, Orion/Oxford Urgent Care, Pugh’s Market, Indianwood Junction, Tire Warehouse, Ken’s Coney, Christi’s Twist-N-Dough and Orion Market. There are also some locations in Oxford and surrounding communities.
‘Thank you to everyone that donated thus far,? Pam said. ‘It’s really appreciated.?
‘It’s helped to keep her on top of her medical bills,? she added.
