Two varsity spring sports no problem for GHS junior

Caleb Jones has a packed schedule, playing two varsity spring sports and taking a full load of classes. The only thing he has trouble finding time for is sleep.
‘I sleep sometimes,? Jones said. ‘I have to stay up late to do homework, though.?
The Goodrich High School junior is splitting his time between the varsity baseball and varsity golf teams this spring. Jones was affected by the season switch, which made golf a spring sport at the beginning of this school year.
Jones had to choose between his two favorite sports or make a compromise.
‘It’s tough, but Coach Foreback and Coach Brandt have been really good about it,? Jones said.
Bob Foreback, Goodrich varsity baseball coach, and Don Brandt, Goodrich varsity golf coach, have shared one of their best players to give him this opportunity.
‘There are some games he hasn’t played and sometimes he has to sit because he missed practice, but he’ll end up putting in the same time as the other kids,? Foreback said.
If Jones misses batting practice after school, he will go to the gym before school starts to make up for the lost time, Foreback said.
Jones is willing to work the same schedule next year, if his coaches allow it. Foreback does not see a problem with it.
‘Not a lot of kids can pull it off, but Caleb can,? Foreback said.
