The Clarkston varsity basketball team measured up against some of the State’s best teams on Nov. 26. Saginaw, Detroit Martin Luther King and Flint Southwestern Academy all made the trek out to the Wolves gym for some post Thanksgiving roundball.
?(The scrimmage) gave us a good understanding of where we are as a team,? said Coach Dan Fife.
Clarkston held their own against the competition, but had some very tough matchups to contend with, especially in the paint.
‘We have to play hard and smart to compete against those teams,? said Fife.
Fife was disappointed in his teams? shot selection and effort at times, but did concede some of the problem may have been turkey and gravy related.
The Wolves did well early in the day versus Saginaw, were somewhat overwhelmed by King’s size and did not have a lot of gas left in the tank for Flint Southwestern.
All in all, the scrimmage provided all of the coaches a good hard look at how their players will perform when faced with talent equal or greater than their own.
